Parenting is not such an easy thing as people who do not have children take it to be. It is even more difficult for parents whose jobs take them away from their children for a long time. Christian military moms and parenting is one subject of importance as it tries to relate how a godly parent can raise her children in God's ways even if she is not always there with them.
You don't need 7days per week to train your children godly. Anytime you are free to be with them, ensure you teach them something. For want of time, you need not discuss every issue with them. Pick discussions that would give you the opportunity to present some godly principles to them.
For example, spending time with them in the church would be better than taking them to a restaurant. Parents do both to show their love towards their kids but when there is not enough time to do both, a Christian mom should rather invest the time in the presence of God. Going to church with them on Sundays and anytime within the week will constantly remind them about God's place in their lives.
You should also be mindful of the things you bring to them as gifts. You can buy them dolls to make them happy but do not forget to add the Bible and some Bible story books to that. Teach them how to use them in your absence and this will reduce your work of training them in the way of God. Before they grow up, they will always long for your return because they want to read more of some Christian literature.
When you are with them, teach them how to pray. You can do this by organizing morning and evening devotions with them. Assign to each of the children what they should do in every meeting. For instance, you may ask one to lead in the prayers, another to lead in the songs and someone else to share the word.
This can be a continuous practice whether you are around or not if you take time to prepare a roster for them. The roster should have the names of your children and the activities they should do in the devotion. Let the plan cover one week so that each person knows what to do on a particular day. Ask them to take notes of the Bible passage they read as well as the contributions made by each person. With this, you will be able to monitor their spiritual growth.
Lead them by example anytime you are around. Teach them to say the truth at all times and never for once tell a lie even when you are in a difficult situation because that will ruin all your efforts. Being kind to others will also send the message to them much more than when you only read bible passages.
Because bad company corrupts good manners, you should know everyone your children associate with and tell them to stop mingling with the ones you are afraid of. They can have good friends if they are sent to a church school. Apart from the normal academic curriculum, other things they will learn are the dangers of cultism and how to be a more effective Christian.
