Any audiologist interested in dispensing hearing aids must be registered. The law defines hearing aid dispensers as anyone over twenty one years of age or a licensed audiologist under education law. This is one who is engaged in testing, fitting, selecting, renting, adapting and servicing of such aids. Testing and fitting procedures are critical dispensing such hearing aids. There are several requirements for one to be registered to dispense hearing aids CT.

Prospective hearing assists dealers and their employees are free to apply for the registration as dealers. Licensed audiologists under laws of education are also accepted as applicants. Those with little or no experience and are applying for the first time, must provide supporting documents as may be required of them when presenting application papers.

You must apply for a business permit once you get the registration certificate as it does not give you a permit to operate such a business. The business permit must be procured separately. If you later decide to move to another state, you are not guarantee of straight issuance of a registration certificate. You would need to apply for registration and go through the process as anyone else. You would have to show that you qualify for the registration certificate.

You would be required to pay a fee for registration. The amount to pay would be determined by the Department of State. Cash payments are not accepted. You may pay with a check, money order or a credit card. There is a credit card authorization form for credit card payments. Any bounced checks attract a penalty of twenty dollars.

If you are a licensed audiologist but has not experience, there is a practical exam that you must take as approved by the State office. For those applying for the first time, they are required to complete training program that takes twelve months, pass a theory and practical exam and take an instruction training course.

As a regulation there is continuing education set by the State Office for hearing aid dispensers. It is at least twenty hours two of which they must be taught on how to control infection and an extra hour of state and Federal regulation. They are also taught about professionalism and field regulations. Applicants are given a year long temporary registration certificate . This certificate can only be renewed once upon supervision by a registered hearing aid dispenser. Trainees may also apply for a temporary certificate.

The course of instruction is made of a practical and theory portion both of which must be taught by an approved instructor by the Department of State and Bureau of Educational Standards. Prospective instructors may apply for approvals with their resume and twenty five dollars fee. They must have at least three year experience in the field or any other field that deals directly with these aids.

Non-profit making corporations who wish to dispense these aids must have a corporation registration certificate from the State Office. Their employees are exempted from paying registration fees. Strict regulations imposed are meant to ensure high quality service and maintain a professional image in the industry.
